Dorries' wife, his daughter, and his son-in-law, who were in the car, were not injured. Dorries was driving towards Oakey and the truck towards Toowoomba when the collision occurred. The car hood was ripped off, and Dorries' chest was crushed by the impact."

  • Johann Frederick Ludwig Lucht was born on 20 January 1833 in Obermark, Prussia. He was the son of Johann Lucht and Sophie Schultz.
  • Johann Frederick Ludwig Lucht married Sophia Christina Dorothea Michaelis circa 1858.
  • Johann Frederick Ludwig Lucht and Sophia Christina Dorothea Michaelis immigrated on 28 September 1861. Johann and Sophia travelled on the Grassbrook from Hamburg to Lewey's Bay?. With them was Carl Lucht, presumedly their son. No ages were recorded on the ships manafest. After they arrived Johann took up work as a shephard on the Tyson Station at Clifton.
  • In 1888 their son John Frederick selected land at Haden. Johann and Sophia lived in a small cottage across the road from JF and his family.

  • John (Frederick) Lucht was born in 1868 in Clifton. His parents had immigrated from Germany and his father was a shepherd at Tyson Station near Clifton, birth registration under LEICHT.
  • He was the son of Johann Frederick Ludwig Lucht and Sophia Christina Dorothea Michaelis.
  • John (Frederick) Lucht selected land - His allocation was 1200 acres, but on his marriage selected another 120 acres in the name of his wife Louisa. The land cost 1/2 crown per acre. They named the property "Lucky Valley". After felling a patch of scrub a small home was built. The original racecourse and sports ground for the area were on this land
    in 1888 in Doctor's Creek.
  • At the age of 21 years, John (Frederick) Lucht married Wilhelmina (Louisa) Kann, daughter of Detlof Nicholas Wilhelm Kann and Anna Maria Meier, in 1889 in Lutheran Church, Highfields, Queensland. By the time the land they had selected was settled, JF, as he was known had a horse, cart, hoe, axe and a wife and two daughters. His parents lived in a small cottage across the road.
    They built a small butcher shop on the selelction and would deliver meat around the district. When the railway came to Wahoon in 1911 it was renamed Haden. JF and Louisa then built a butcher shop in the small township and ran the business for 20 years.
    All of the children attended Doctor's Creek School. JF was a member of the Rosalie Shire Council for 28 years.
    They lived on the farm for almost 60 years. The farm was then taken over by their son Henry.
  • In 1901 Frederick was listed as a farmer of Goombungee in the Crow's Nest Post Office Directory.

Later, after the brother had been in bed for a while, the deceased called to him, tell to say goodbye to her sisters, as she was about to shoot herself. Before the brother could do anything the report of a shot gun was heard, and his sister was found dead, with her chest shattered."
