In 1902 they come to Oakey and worked a farm, later went to Djuan, and 18 years ago retired and went to Toowoomba. They had been living in Crow's Nest for the last five years. Mr. C. J. Davidson, of Crow's Nest, is the only surviving son. There are five grand children and five great-grandchildren."

  • Friedrich Reushle immigrated to Sydney on 30 May 1886. Friedrich travelled on the Catania from Hamburg. He was a steerage passenger.
  • He was naturalised in 1888 in Queensland.
  • Conditional approval for Friedrich Reushle's selection of land was given on 24 November 1888. He selected 80 acres of land at Ravensbourne. "For the agricultural township farms adjoining the village of Ravensbourne there was great competition, many of the portions being applied for from four to ten times over. The ballot had to be resorted to in no less than 50 cases; this, with the refunding of the amounts paid by the unsuccessful applicants, necessarily occupied  a deal of time, and it was not till half-past 6 O'clock that the business was concluded, and the court closed. By 7 o'clock the whole of the refundments had been paid over to 115 applicants. The 76 portions adjoining the village of Ravensbourne, granted at the land court, were  apportioned among 62 selectors, so there is every probability of the village settlement of Ravensbourne proving a success. The total area granted at the court was 5025 acres among 68 applicants."
  • He and Johann (Jacob) Weller selected land - Fred Reushle and the Wellers, Jacob and Fred, possibly his cousins or second cousins, worked together to build Fred a hut of stringy bark with a wooden stretcher covered in potato bags.

  • Friedrich Reushle. The Queenslander reported that applications for certificates at Ravensbourne for the following selections were adjourned for inspection:- John M'Laughlan, William Richards, August F. Beutel, Gustav F. Beutel, Robert Shedden, Ann Walsh, Donald A McDonald, Hugh M'Erlean, Mary Ryan, Charles McQuillan, Frederick Reuschle, Jacob Weller, Harriet E. Austin, Emma L. Austin, Charles Wallace, Henry McLeod, and William J. H. Austin.
  • Just before their marriage in 1900, Mr Zropf built a cottage for Fred and Martha Dunn on Fred's land what is now Post Office Road, Ravensbourne. The floors and wall framing were constructed with tallowwood and the interior wall were made from local hoop pine. The windows were made from silky oak and Queensland red cedar. A kitchen annexe was added at the back. Later a store room to one side.
    In 2003 the cottage was moved to Chapman Park at Hampton where it was reconstructed using many of the old-style building techniques. It now houses the Visitors Information Centre.

  • At the age of 33 years, 1 month and 23 days, Friedrich Reushle married Martha Dunn on 19 March 1900 in Queensland. At some stage the spelling of the surname was changed to REUSHLE. Fred and Martha had five sons. The family began a dairy farm, the cream being taken by horseback to Hampton by one of the children. They also raised pigs.
  • In 1901 Frederick was listed as a farmer of Ravensbourne in the Crow's Nest Post Office Directory.
