What the origin of the name of the place we cannot say, but certainly it was appropriately named because only the man with a big stout heart and grim courage and perseverance would go there in the early days, when the nearest was Toowoomba, and the dray was the only means of locomotion. Mr Diamond was one of those who succeeded. His wife predeceased him about 17 years ago but a family of six sons and four daughters is living. The sons are William, John, and Francis of Perseverance, Peter of South Africa, and Patrick and Lawrence of Tarong, the daughters are Mrs James McErlean of Taabinga, Mrs Gillies of Goombungee, Mrs Purtell (Hampton) and Miss Ella Diamond of Perseverance."
