He had been engaged in farming in the Crow's Nest district for 40 years, when, a few years ago he retired and came to live in the township. He is survived by three daughters Mrs M Gleeson (Virginia), Nurse B Egan (nursing staff Willowburn Asylum), Mrs P Mewing (Crow's Nest and two sons Messrs Denis J Egan (Cooyar) and Stephen Egan (Roma.)

  • Her death was recorded with the Alton, Hampshire, Registration District in the December 1845 Quarter . She possibly died after the birth of her fifth child Mary Eggar Jefferis who was born on Christmas day 1845. NOTE: According to the death registration she was 45 years old but this is unlikely as her parents were only married in 1803.

Jane Louisa Webb was most likely a relation of Sarah Webb (James' second wife) as they were both born in Henley on Thames.

Mrs. Annie Maria Cox passed away suddenly at the home of her daughter (Mrs. G. Perkins, Kitoba). The deceased, who was 57 years of age, was born at Meringandan, Darling Downs. After residing for many years in the Crow's Nest district she was married to Mr. William Cox at Toowoomba. Mr. and Mrs. Cox came to the Wondai district some 25 years ago, and engaged in farming, after which a move was made to Speed well, where they made their home. The death of her husband occurred some 11 months ago, in the Monto district. Two daughters— Mrs. G. Perkins (Kitoba) and Mrs. H. Warhurst (Ceratodus)— and three sons— Messrs. Arthur, William and Leslie Cox of Speedwell— survive."
