The Queensland Times reported:- " COOYAR, August 10 While rounding up a bull in the rough range country at West Maclagan. Mr. T A Hurley (50). a grazier, of Upper Cooyar Creek. leaned over to evade the branch of a tree, the saddle girth broken, and he fell 40ft. down a gorge. He received severe head injuries, and although conscious when his companion reached him was dead when the latter re turned with assistance."
  • At the age of 51 years, Beatrice Pattle married James Hurley, son of William Denis Hurley and Frances Christine Connors, in 1945.
  • Beatrice Pattle died on 17 June 1979 in Crow's Nest, Queensland, at age 85.
