  • Samuel Green was born circa 1820. He was possibly born 1823 Briston, Gloucestershire.
  • Samuel Green married Sussanah Bridgeman, daughter of Thomas Bridgeman and Sarah Newitt, in 1853 in Victoria. Samuel was 36, a widowed shoemaker, Sussanah only 16.
  • On 6 December 1865 Samuel was charged on warrant with deserting his children who were in the care of their grandmother Sarah Foster of Creswick on 27 November 1865. He was a shoemaker, aged 48 to 50, about 5' 4", 10 stone, black complection and hair worn all around but parted under chin, no moustache, small scar on one lip and ship on arm. He was supposed to be at Devil's Kitchen near Smythe's Creek.
