  • Amelia Catherine Thorn was baptized on 9 April 1826 in Somerset, England.
  • She immigrated to New Zealand on 14 December 1842. on the Bombay with her mother and second husband Mr Carter and their children and her brother John.
  • At the age of 18 years, 11 months and 29 days, Amelia Catherine Thorn married William Eyles, son of Daniel Eyles and Jane Primmer, on 7 April 1845 in New Zealand.
  • In 1864 Amelia Catherine Thorn and William Eyles lived in New Zealand. Their son William Daniel aged 1 year and 10 months drowned in the creek at Waimae South on 5 January that year. The family lived on the corner of Hill Street and Champion Road.
  • On 31 July 1875,her husband, William Eyles died in New Zealand at age 52. He died from pneumonia.
  • Amelia Catherine Thorn died on 22 March 1908 in New Zealand at age 81. Catherine's death was announced in the Nelson Evening Mail :- DEATH. EYLES.— On March 22nd, 1908, Catherine Amelia, relict of the late William Eyles, of Richmond, aged 82 years, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs Edward Mytton, Thorpe.

  • He was born on 14 February 1867 in Willet, Elworthy, England.
  • He was the son of Thomas Thorne and Mary Evans.
  • Henry Thorne was baptized on 21 April 1867 in Elworthy.
  • He immigrated to Bundaberg, Queensland, on 13 October 1886. Henry came to Australia as a free settler on the "Scottish Knight" which left Plymouth on 4 July 1886. He could read and write and emigrated by himself, although his brother George followed him three years later.
  • He was employed on Sarah Ann Robinson/Johnson's farm at Currajong Creek, but because of the low wage went felling pine for Mr Joe Wright. In about 1888 he moved to Bundaberg where he worked on the end of the railway line.
  • At the age of 23 years, 6 months and 21 days, Henry Thorne married Mary Kingston, daughter of Thomas Kingston and Mary Bircher, on 4 September 1890 in Queensland. At the time of his marriage Harry was a lengthsman for the railway at Clayton Railway Station. He then moved to Woowoonga where he was listed as a farmer.
  • Between 1890 and 1935 Henry Thorne and Mary Kingston lived. in Bundaberg, Woowoonga and the Cnr of McEvoy and Percy Streets, East Warwick.
  • Henry Thorne and Mary Kingston moved to Warwick.Harry was listed as an Alderman on the Warwick Shire Council from 1924-1926.
  • On 25 August 1935,his wife, Mary Kingston died in Queensland at age 63.
  • Henry Thorne died on 20 January 1939 in Cnr McEnvoy and Percy Streets, Warwick, at age 71. He died from blood pressure and dilation of the heart.
  • Henry was buried on 20 January 1939 in Warwick Cemetery.
