    ORANGE, WEDNESDAY.
A fatality occurred at Lucknow at 6 o'clock this evening. Three men, named Beckford, Samuel Roberts, and Thomas Roberts, were engaged timbering in the new main shaft of the Wentworth Proprietary mine, when the staging gave way. Samuel and Thomas Roberts fell to the bottom, a distance of a hundred feet, into 12ft of water. Beckford was caught by the timber at the side of the shaft, and had the presence of mind to pull the rope signal, which let those on top know that an accident had occurred. Beckford was drawn up badly injured. The other men were killed. Grappling-irons had to be procured to get the bodies out of the water, and after some time they were brought to the surface. The deceased were brothers, both being married men. It is very doubtful if Beckford will recover."
