  • Percy Allan Vonhoff was baptized in Douglas Lutheran Church.
  • He attended the Groomsville State School, then worked on the farm, in Toowoomba at the butter & bacon factories & foundary before returning to farm life. He bought a property at Anduramba, but sold it to move to one at Plainby where he remained until his death.

They performed on Australia's Amatuer Hour - a radio programme of the time. They also appeared on Australian Story. After Ernie's death Percy performed with his cousin Claud Vonhoff.

  • He was the son of Rev Archibald William James Vowden and Kathleen Leonora Frances Parsons.
  • After an education at Clifton College, Desmon joined the Royal Navy as a regular Officer in 1938. In 1950 he retired from the Navy with the rank of Captain in the Royal Marines when he was called to the Bar. From 1968 to 1986 he was Deputy Chairman of the Wiltshire Quarter Sessions, recorder of Devizes, and later Recorder at the Crown Court, and finally a Circuit Judge (Western Circuit). He became a Barrister and subsequently a Queen's Councillor.
  • At the age of 43 years, 4 months and 22 days, Desmond Harvey Weight Vowden married Iris Blanche Stafford Northcote on 28 May 1964 in the Registrary Office, Kensington, London. Desmond was the Deputy Chairman of the Wiltshire Quarter Sessions. Iris wa a widow. Witnesses to the marriage were Michael William Weight Vowden (Desmond's son) and Michael Wigram.
