    A PIONEER in the person of Mr. John Coleman passed away on the 2nd instant. Mr. Coleman landed in Brisbane in February in 1847. His ship left England in October, 1846. He was subsequently married to Miss Louisa Stuart in Ipswich. Mr. Coleman when he landed worked as ploughman for Mr. John McDonald, of Ipswich. He then worked for a well-known Ipswich butcher, Mr. Richard Wright. he afterwards removed to Drayton, and thence went to Clifton Station, in the employ of Mr. Tooth. Subsequently Mr. Coleman took charge of a droving plant for the Peel River Company. While in the employ of Messr. Baynes and Darragh (now the Graziers' Butchering Company), Coleman landed the first mob of fat sheep in Brisbane. Mr. Coleman was 14 years droving, and spent the last quarter-century of his life in Goombungee farming". It read:- (an unknown value.)
