The children all attended school at Doctor's Creek, walking there and back each day and collecting mail from Henry White's "Post Office" on the way home.

  • Patrick Lenehan was born circa 1840.
  • He and Cornelius O'Connor, his cousin, immigrated to Queensland in 1864. He would have been 23 years old. Con and Patrick were cousins and travelled on the ship Queen of the South.
    They worked in the Ipswich area until 1875 when Con found work on Emu Creek Station as a stockman and fencer. Patrick remained at Rosewood.
    When work was scarce at Emu Creek Station Con would join the shearing circuit, sometimes walking between properties when the feed was scarce for the horse. On his visits to Jondaryan Homestead Station he would always bring a packet of lollies for little Jimmy Fenton who still remembered this kindness when he was well into his ninties.

  • Isabella Leslie was born in 1839 in Ireland. She was the daughter of Charles Leslie and Mary Ann Somerset.
  • She immigrated to Moreton Bay in July 1859. She was 21 and travelled on the Glentanner on her own. Soon after her arrival she moved to Drayton.

Their marriage was officiated by Rev Thomas Waraker (Church of Engand) and was the first to take place in Crow's Nest. At that time Crow's Nest was still a cattle station owned by Mr W B Tooth and managed by Arthur Lloyd in whose home the marriage took place. In 1861 they moved to Emu Creek station where John was employed as a book keeper. From there they moved to Highfields in 1863 where John conducted a buchery and general store.
