All her clothes were burnt off. The unfortunate child died late last night. The funeral this afternoon was largely attended."

He was also very strict and always expected them to work hard on the farm milking cows, working with horses, cleaning out dams, etc. Harry seemed to have an interest in entering livestock and produce sections of local shows. He gained a second place for his Sudan Grass in the 1934 Toowoomba Show and a first and second prize for 'three fat bullocks' in the Crows Nest Show sometime in the 1940s."
