  • The following was published in a book celebrating the Haden Centenary in 1975 - "The late Theodore (Ted) Schultz came from Highfields in 1906 and was amongst the first settlers of Haden. He worked round other places until he could build a small home and then on 9 May 1907, he married Maria Reinke from Goombungee. They reared two sons and four daughters. Later Mr Schultz had land at Doctor's Creek and Coalbank. When his son was old enough he took over the Coalbank property and Mr Schultz bought another block at Irvingdale in the Moola district [north east of Dalby].
    He lived on the Haden property until his death on 24 February 1945. Their house was always an open house to one and all. They joined in and worked on all the local Committees and also the Goombungee-Haden Show Society. Mr Schultz was treasurer of the Haden MUIOOF lodge for 26 years. The present day Lutheran Church and Hall stand on land presented to the Church by Mr Schultz.
    Mrs Schultz passed away on 26 April 1975 at the grand age of 87 years 11 months and one day. She lived with her daughter until 3 months before her death. She was always happy when she had crowds around her and many are the girls she helped with their glory boxes by doing crochet work for them. She was a member, until her death, of the QCWA at Haden and had been presented with a Silver Badge for long service.
