  • Emma Louisa Stark was born on 20 March 1904 in Djuan, Queensland.
  • She was the daughter of Wilhelm August Ferdinand Stark and Augusta Puschmann.
  • At the age of 18 years, 4 months and 20 days, Emma Louisa Stark married Johann Franz Polzin, son of Johann Jacobus Polzin and Bertha Magdeline Schmidt, on 9 August 1922 in Djuan, Queensland. Their first house had been the manse at the Lutheran Church at Doctor's Creek. It was moved by rollers to John's property about ¼ mile from the church.
  • In 1925 John, doing away with his horse drawn machiner, purchased the first 10-20 tractor in the district. He would often help his neighbours with their ploughing. He replaced his sulky and horse drawn spring cart with the first Nash car in the district in 1925.
    He sold corn, sometimes at the best price of 1/6d a bushell. Cattle sold for 10/- per head, or a bull would go for £2 or £3.

Stark's farm, Pinelands, missed his footing and fell off the tank stand to the ground, a distance of over 20ft., sustaining a severely lacerated arm by coming in contact during his fall with a barbed wire fence. Dr. R. E. Henry inserted five stitches in the wounded arm."

A description of their wedding appeared in The Brisbane Courier :- "A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated at the residence of the brides parents, Groomsville recently, when Miss Agnes Hartwig (second daughter of Mr and Mrs JC Hartwig was married to Mr Walter Stark (eldest son of Mrs Gossow, Pinelands) The Rev A R Reutlier, of Highfields officiated.The room was beautifully decorated with greenery and flowers and streamers of white ribbon for the occasion. The bride who was given away by her father wore a gown of ivory satin shiminon richly beaded and finished with a folded girdle and sleeves of white georgette Her simple tulle veil was worn cap fashion caught at each side of the head with dainty sprays of orange buds and she carried a bouquet of white asters and fern, tied with satin stream ers Miss Amy Ward (cousin of the bridegroom) and Miss Vera Hartwig (sister of the bride) acted as brides maids Miss Ward wore a charming frock of white voile inlet willi bands of rich guipure lace and insertion, arid she wore a lady Betty hat to match trimmed wrth sprays of French flowers and fruit. Miss Hartwig's pretty gown of lemon crepe de Chine was made with rows of pin tucks, and she wore a bronze-toned straw hat to harmonise. Both bridesmaids carried posies of coloured asters and maidenhair fern tied with streamers to match their frocks Mr Andrew Hartwig (brother of the bride) carried out the duties of best man and Mr Robert Ward was groomsman After the ceremony a reception took place m the dining room the guests being received by the bride s mother Mrs J C Hartwig who wore a costume of black crepe de Chine and a hat to match. After the wedding breakfast Mr and Mr Walter Stark left for their honeymoon wluch is being spent in Brisbane. The bride travelled in a frock of deep blue taffeta caught at one side with a rosette of ribbon in a contrasting
    shade and she wore a hat to harmonise."

  • At the age of 23 years, Wilhelm Stark married Dorothea Ernestine Schroder in 1857 in Prussia.
  • Wilhelm Stark and Dorothea Ernestine Schroder immigrated to Queensland on 6 February 1866. Wilhelm, aged 31 and Dorothea aged 29, travelled on the Johan Caesar with their children August 1, Auguste 7 and Carl 4.
  • On 16 March 1876,his wife, Dorothea Ernestine Schroder died in Highfields, Queensland.
  • At the age of 42 years, Wilhelm Stark married Rosina Volkmann in 1876 in Queensland.
  • Wilhelm Stark and Rosina Volkmann appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1905 living at Koorjarewon (Highfields). Wilhelm is a farmer. Not sure if this is correct - William & Frenzena shown on electoral roll.
  • Wilhelm Stark died on 15 May 1906 in Highfields.
  • Wilhelm was buried in Cabarlah Cemetery. He is buried with his second wife Rosina.
