  • Margaret Boden was born in March 1845 in Co Armagh, Ireland. She was the daughter of John Boden and Ann Ritford.
  • She immigrated before 1870. She arrived in Queensland as a single female, but her immigration details have yet to be found.
  • At the age of 25 years, Margaret Boden married Edward (Ned) Brown on 12 March 1870 in Toowoomba, Queensland. At the time of Ellen's birth Margaret gave her date of marriage as 12 March 1869, at Toowoomba.
  • In 1876 The family was living at Cock's timber camp when Edward completed a census to enrol the children in the Crows Nest Provisional School.
  • In 1881 Edward and Margaret enrolled their three eldest children John, Alice and Edward in Perseverance School.
  • Between 1889 and 1893 the Brown children attended Pechey Provisional School. Edward snr was listed as a selector at the time, most likely augmenting his income by carting timber.
  • Margaret Boden and Edward (Ned) Brown appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1903 living at Djuan. He was a farmer. His sons James, Samuel and John Robert also farmed in the Djuan/Douglas area.
  • Margaret Boden died on 16 February 1930 in Crow's Nest, Queensland, at age 84.
  • Margaret was buried on 17 February 1930 in Crow's Nest Cemetery. CE1-00C-0030.
  • In February 1930 Margaret Boden's obituary appeared in the local Crow's Nest paper. It read:- "OBITUARY MRS EDWARD BROWN
    One of the oldest identities of Crows Nest in the person of Mrs Edward Brown (Margaret) passed away at her home on Sunday (writes our Crows Nest correspondent). She was born in County Armagh, Ireland 85 years ago and was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Boden. She came to Queensland over 60 years ago and was married to Mr Edward Brown in Toowoomba shortly afterwards. She had lived in and around Crows Nest ever since. They were to have celebrated their diamond wedding this year. Her kindly and gentle nature endeared her to the hearts of all, and the older residents of the district speak in glowing terms of the many thoughtful acts of Mrs. Brown, in the old pioneering days. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband and five sons, Messrs. J.R.W. Brown (West Australia) Thomas (Brisbane) H. Brown (Wondai), S Brown (Kilburnie) E. Brown (Highfields) and two daughters Mrs Chas Brewer (Pinelands) and Mrs James Gibbs (Crows Nest) one daughter, Mrs Margaret Hess died a few years ago. The late Mrs Brown and Mr Brown have 47 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The funeral took place at the Crows Nest Cemetery on Monday. The flag at the Soldiers Memorial was flown at half mast as a mark of respect."
  • The Methodist Church in Crow's Nest erected memorial plaques to early Crow's Nest Pioneers on the Church fence. Edward & Margaret's names were amongst them.

He gave his next of kin as his mother Esther of Goombungee. He serviced in France where he was wounded and hospitalised. Whilst in England he married Lily.
  • His marriage, at 32 years and 5 months, to Lily Attwood, daughter of Joseph Attwood and Julia Wilkins, was registered in the December 1918 Quarter in Dursley, Gloucestershre Registration District.
  • William George Bodycott and Lily Attwood appeared on the Electoral Roll in 1930 living at Thornville. William was a farmer.
  • William George Bodycott enlisted in the Australian Army on 20 May 1942 in Cooyar. He was living at Thornville at the time he enlisted and gave his next of kin as his wife Lily. He was discharged on 21 Oct 1945 with the rank of Private in the 9 Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps.
  • William George Bodycott died on 11 July 1952 in Queensland at age 66.
  • William was buried on 14 July 1952 in Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery. CE3A-004-0033.

Louise Elisabeth Boettcher

F, b. 18 July 1817, d. 12 March 1903
  • Louise Elisabeth Boettcher was born on 18 July 1817 in Frednau, East Prussia. She was the daughter of Johann BOETTCHER and Emma SCHMIETT.
  • At the age of 19 years, Louise Elisabeth Boettcher married Friedrich August Pukallus in 1837 in Altchristburg, Prussia.
  • Louise Elisabeth Boettcher immigrated to Queenslandsometime between 1884 and 1885. In 1877 her son Johann and his wife Louisa, along with their two children Otto and Otteille had emigrated, arriving in Australia on 4 September 1877. On the same ship was Johann's sister Henrietta, her husband Gustave Krause and daughter Pauline.

    Then in 1886 Fredrick junior emigrated with his 11 year old son, and his younger brother Hermann Carl. They arrived in Queensland on 11 January 1886 aboard the Duke of Westminster.

    Frederick's wife Elizabeth and their two daughters Elizabeth and Louisa followed two years later on the Bulimba arriving on 21 February 1888.

    Edward, his wife Wilhelmine and perhaps his mother Louise probably arrived around 1885 as Edwards first child Auguste was born in Queensland in 1885. Their immigration details have not yet been found, although they possibly came on the Goalpara in 1884 and are listed as two singles under the spelling PECKALLINS AND PECKALLOUS.
    The last of the Pukallus family to arrive from Prussia was Hermann, son of August.[Not sure if August is son of Louise and Friedrich August] He came on the Duke of Portland on 20 November 1898 and settled in the Bundaberg district.
  • Louise Elisabeth Boettcher died on 12 March 1903 in Queensland at age 85.
  • Louise was buried on 13 March 1903 in Douglas Cemetery.
