    The Queensland Dairyfarmers Organisation has paid tribute to former dairy farmer and industry representative Ivan Vonhoff who died on Wednesday, aged 85.

    Mr Vonhoff received an Order of Australia Medal in 2008 for his service to the Lutheran Church of Australia, to the dairy industry through a range of executive roles, and to the community.

    The QDO said Mr Vonhoff was a very active participant in the dairy industry and advocacy organisations.

    He was a QDO State and District Councillor for many years and was also chairman and director of the Darling Downs Unity Milk Co-operative.

    He was chairman of the Queensland Butter Board from 1987-97, a member of the Crows Nest Rural Fire Board, and heavily involved in the Lutheran Church.

    He was a member of the Church Council (Qld District) from 1961-2004 and chairman of St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Crows Nest for about 50 years.

    Mr Vonhoff was also Shire Chairman (Mayor) of Crows Nest Shire from 1988-93.

    His funeral will be held at 10:30am on Friday, July 7, at St Luke’s, Crows Nest.

  • In 1963 he worked on the construction of the Perseverance Dam. He became interested in Real Estate industry.
  • Percy and his brother Ernie were self taught musicians who often played at local dances. Percy played the violin, guitar and accordian. They performed on Australia's Amatuer Hour - a radio programme of the time. They also appeared on Australian Story. After Ernie's death Percy performed with his cousin Claud Vonhoff.
  • Percy Allan Vonhoff died on 8 August 2012 at age 86. He died in his home at Plainby.

    A farmer named Vonhoff was out wallaby shooting at Douglas on Sunday accompanied by his son, a lad 10 years of age. In the dusk he mistook the lad for a wallaby and riddled him with pellets. The boy was brought in to the hospital, where he is now progressing favourably.
  • He and Mathilde Louisa Ulriche Brunn appeared on the Electoral Roll between 1903 and 1905 living at Douglas. Wilhelm was a farmer. His brother Reinhdardt aslo farmed at Douglas.
  • In February 1908 Wilhelm Vonhoff senior, who had become homesick, took the entire family back to Germany. He sold the farm -Welke Road, Groomsville (Sub-division 3 of Portion 3619 with an area of 54 acres 1 rood 24 perches) on 5 Mar 1909 to Walter Astbury. Wilhelm jnr returned from Germany to Groomsvillle in 1909 to marry his sweetheart, followed by August in 1910. Wilhelm jnr bought their old farm back from Walter Astbury on 25 Jan 1912. After Wilhelm senior died in Germany in 1912, Mathilde decided to return to Australia with the rest of the family in Jan 1914. Robert remained until after the war.
  • Wilhelm August Robert Vonhoff died on 15 March 1912 in Westpreussen, Germany, at age 54. Zempelburg, Westpreussen is now knowns as Sepolno Krajenskie, Kreis Flatow, Kujawsko-Pomorskie province, Poland.
  • Wilhelm was buried in Westpreussen, Germany.

  • William Robert August Vonhoff was born on 13 January 1889 in Groomsville, Queensland.
  • He was the son of Wilhelm August Robert Vonhoff and Mathilde Louisa Ulriche Brunn.
